FLAG OF STARS - THE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BANDS OF CALIFORNIA

Arguably the high water mark of my musical career.  As a trumpet player and member of the 562nd Air Force Band, the Air National Guard Band of the Southwest for some 20+ years, we recorded this album around 2010.

Here are a few highlights from it - I hope you enjoy!

Eagle Squadron

I seem to recall I was playing 2nd cornet/trumpet for much of the album with the exception of the Eagle Squadron march.  I was playing the 1st trumpet part which had a bit a fanfare built in.  I distinctly remember I was the only one who had the high C at 1:13.

Norman Rockwell Suite

Mvt 1: The Marriage License - 0:00 - 2:35

Mvt 2: Shuffleton Barbershop - 2:36 - 5:18

Mvt 3: Christmas Homecoming - 5:19 - 8:08

Huckleberry Finn Suite

Trumpet Soloist - Jerry Lockwood

Mvt 1: Lazy Town - 0:00 - 3:07

Mvt 2: Jim - 3:08 - 6:58

Mvt 3: The King and the Duke - 6:59 - 9:55

Mvt 4: Huckleberry's Rag - 9:56 - 13:05

Flag of Stars

A particularly challenging piece.

Soloist is again my friend Jerry Lockwood - whose talents I still chase to this day.

A Chip off the 'Ol Block

Back in Time - Soloist Kevin Larochelle

Trumpet Soloist - Kevin Larochelle

In case you didn't notice the similarity in last name,

Kevin is my youngest son and I am a very proud papa!

Kevin performed this Flugelhorn solo at the Poway Jazz Festival on 4/27/24 with the Del Norte High School Jazz Band.
